JOB TITLE: Education & Camp Supervisor (part time - up to 30 hours per week)
Manager/Supervisor: Executive Director
GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION: The Educational Supervisor responsibility is establishing the proper programs, materials and educating all employees/volunteers involved in each of the following areas: Tours, Camp, StoryTime & Events and potentially writing grant requests. Each area of responsibility is broken out separately below. In this position, the Education Supervisor will make recommendations to the Executive Director that will ensure NCF/Maybury Farm is meeting the needs of the community while staying within budget.
POSITION SUMMARY:
Oversee Educational Programs including Farm Tours, Special Tours, Watch-me-Grow, Camps and Event Educational Enhancement

Build out tours, Watch-Me-Grow, seasonal Day Camp, train all educators for program consistency

Supervise/work all tours, camp, watch-me-grow and events at the farm along with the other members of the education team

Establish program(s) offering materials for all guests and schools

Monitor all expenses to ensure that we stay within budget.

Event Specific: Determine what, if any, additional topics could be added to events at the farm

Build out the adult tours in order to increase the number of people learning about farming and agriculture

Work with schools to ensure that our programs meet the state education day requirements

Send out communication to all schools, with help from Administrative Assistant, to increase tours throughout the season
MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES/Farm Day Camp:

Establish the camp curriculum - develop new and creative ideas for each season

Interview camp counselor candidates
-
Make recommendations to the Executive Director for potential counselors

Ensure that we have all the proper materials for camp on opening day

Continue to establish procedures and improvements as needed, provide recommendations to the Executive Director

Ensure that all counselors have been trained and educated to meet LARA & NCF requirements
-
Ensure that camp safety is front and center at all times for campers, visitors as well as all employees and volunteers
MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES/Watch-Me-Grow:

Establish the curriculum for Watch-Me-Grow

Ensure proper materials are prepared

Interview potential candidates for Watch-Me-Grow

Establish procedures and improvements as needed, provide recommendations to the Executive Director

Ensure that Watch-Me-Grow is safe for participants, visitors as well as all employees and volunteers
MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES/StoryTime:

Ensure all StoryTime presentations are written for Team Lead/storytellers and provide the tools needed in order to conduct a successful session

Work with local Libraries to schedule visiting librarians as visiting storytellers

Events: create appropriate story theme for the event including games, songs and educational materials

Lead orientation sessions for volunteers; work with Team Lead to determine/select StoryTime readers; Executive Director will be involved in the screening and selection process
MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES/Education Around the Farm:

Continue to create educational opportunities around the farm, manage expenses to keep within the budget

Manage educational enhancements along with funding ideas through grants and donations
MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES/Grants:

Work directly with the grant/donation team to determine organizations that might provide funding to NCF/Maybury Farm for our educational needs

Write grant requests, meeting submission deadlines; provide details in farm shared drive including grant request, documentation submitted and update master project plan for each grant

Follow-up on grants received, making sure the project is completed based on NCF/Maybury Farm grant submission specifications
GENERAL EMPLOYEE RESPONSIBILITIES:

Prepare time cards daily, showing the number of hours worked for each task performed - total hours each day as well as provide a total for the week

QUALIFICATIONS FOR JOB:

High school diploma
-
Degree in Education
-
Good communication skills
-
Management experience
-
CPR/First Aid Training
-
Camp Counselor experience
-
Good with children
MEETINGS:
-
Attend all staff meetings and Maybury Farm events meetings as requested

Attend all volunteer meetings
-
Meet with any organization(s) to discuss StoryTime, Tours, Camp, Watch-Me-Grow as necessary, to include the appropriate team leads
EVENTS:
-
Work fundraising events as requested
-
Follow up on and complete any and all Event project plans and the tasks assigned to your area- primarily educational opportunities, games and activities; update the project plan once tasks are accomplished

Provide input/ideas to enhance events at the farm
SCHEDULE:
-
Up to 30 hours per week (part-time position)

Flexible scheduling available, details will be provided during the interview
ATTIRE: Maybury Farm Team T-shirt; closed toed shoes are required, working boots are highly recommended; dress for the weather - we work rain, shine, snow or sleet!
HOURLY RATE: $20 - $22 dependent on level of experience
