GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION: The responsibility of the Barn, Farm & Ground Maintenance Helper is to assist the Barn, Farm & Ground Maintenance Supervisor in barn maintenance, farm/ground maintenance as well as management of a team of volunteers that will be working to complete these tasks. Each responsibility is broken out separately below. In this position, the Assistant will make recommendations to the Supervisor.
MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Assist in the management and completion of any and all projects/maintenance/set-up that need to be completed in the Barn, General Store, Farmhouse and the grounds around the farm. The farm is over 150 years old with a large barn,14 outbuildings, extensive fencing and play structures. Additionally, farm machinery is to be maintained.

Regularly communicate with the Barn, Farm & Ground Maintenance Supervisor to prioritize tasks to be completed

Assist in maintaining all farm/maintenance tools and equipment so that it is operational at all times

Assist in determining what repairs or maintenance items around the farm need to be updated/fixed

Help out on all events as needed or requested, either through projects and/or maintenance

Assist with leading and overseeing volunteers on barn, farm and grounds maintenance tasks

Work 100% of your time on maintenance projects at the farm

Ensure that all monthly safety checks are completed in accordance with the requirements by the State, DNR, NCF/Maybury Farm. (i.e., pump/fire extinguishers)
GENERAL EMPLOYEE RESPONSIBILITIES:

Report shift times online each day, showing the number of hours worked for each task performed

Carefully watch the schedule to ensure that you know the hours you are to work - if you can’t be here for your shift for any reason, contact your Supervisor and then the Executive Director
QUALIFICATIONS FOR JOB:

High school diploma
-
College degree or work experience
-
Good communication skills
-
Building experience, basic mechanical, skills-knowledge of electrical, plumbing, woodworking helpful

Experience with tractors and equipment is beneficial
-
Tractor driving experience preferred but not necessary – can be trained

Ability to lift 50 pounds regularly

Ability to lift 75 pounds occasionally
-
Ability to lift 100 pounds rarely
-
Good people skills
-
Leadership/management skills - working with employees/volunteers

Team oriented individual
MEETINGS:

Attend all staff meetings and Maybury Farm events meetings as requested

Attend all volunteer meetings

Complete all tasks assigned per event as early as possible - all preparations need to be completed the day before the event
SCHEDULE:
-
Up to 30 hours per week (part-time position)
HOURLY RATE: $13 - $15 dependent on level of experience
