JOB TITLE: StoryTime Reader & Farm Educator  (part-time, seasonal)

Manager/Supervisor: Education/Camp Supervisor & Executive Director

GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION: The Story Time Reader/Part time Farm Educator is responsible for running the StoryTime program every Wednesday and Thursday mornings and assisting with farm tours as needed by the Education/Camp Supervisor.

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Familiarize yourself with the StoryTime procedures

  • StoryTime set up, run the program and clean up

  • Be prompt and ready to go when StoryTime program or tours begin

  • Maintain a positive, enthusiastic attitude while reading books and leading activities

  • Establish a positive, working rapport with the parents and children who attend StoryTime​
  • Familiarize yourself with various farm tours (training provided)
  • Maintain a flexible schedule so that you are available to help with tours when needed
  • Let the Education/Camp Supervisor know of any issues that arise in a timely manner
  • Let the Education/Camp Supervisor know if any materials are needed in a timely manner
  • Alert the Education/Camp Supervisor promptly if you are unable to run the program due to illness etc.

GENERAL EMPLOYEE RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Report shift times online each day, showing the number of hours worked for each task performed

  • Carefully watch the schedule to ensure that you know the hours you are to work - if you can’t be here for your shift for any reason, contact your Supervisor and then the Executive Director

 

QUALIFICATIONS FOR JOB: 

  • A pleasant, cheerful demeanor

  • Good out-loud reading skills

  • High school diploma

  • College degree or work experience (preferred, not required)

  • Good communication skills

  • Good computer skills (including google Gmail)

 

MEETINGS: 

  • Attend all staff and Maybury Farm events meetings as requested

 

EVENTS: 

  • Work events as requested - complete all duties/tasks assigned by supervisor or Executive Director

 

SCHEDULE:

  • 20-25 hours per week (seasonal, part-time position)

 

This is a part-time, seasonal position. Note: Occasionally the Farm Camp closes due to inclement weather. Missed hours due to weather are not paid. 

 

ATTIRE: Jeans or khaki pants, capris or long shorts with a Maybury Farm team t-shirt

HOURLY RATE: $10 - $13 dependent on level of experience
