Volunteer

Volunteers, individuals & groups, are vital to the success of Maybury Farm & the Northville Community Foundation & we are grateful for the many who donate their time and knowledge to help us make a difference in our community. The farm has plenty of opportunities to get your hands dirty - you can volunteer in the garden, as a farmhand in the barn, work grounds & maintenance, work concessions in the general store, participate in special events & more!

If you are an individual interested in volunteering at the farm, we'd like to meet you! Please complete the volunteer/docent application package & send it to farmteam@mayburyfarm.org. We'll schedule a zoom interview to discuss where you might like to volunteer.  We'll help you learn what you need to know about farming, gardening or maintenance tasks. Please note that all volunteers must be at least 16 years of age. Maybury Farm has a mission to educate the community – both the visitor & the volunteer.

If your company or organization would like to volunteer as a group, we have group work days available at the farm. Typically, workdays are on Mondays only – because we are closed to the public, we can work on all kinds of maintenance projects safely. If your group is interested, please reach out to Diana Wallace at farmteam@mayburyfarm.org

Docent

If you have interest in teaching & love farm life, we're looking for you!  Docents at Maybury Farm play an important role in helping the farm educate the public, while also helping to protect our animals. Once trained, docents will be conducting “stationaries,” where they are positioned at an animal pasture or garden area, talk to the public about the animal or plantings, & lead a mini-engagement activity. With additional training, docents will help farm educators give complete farm tours to prearranged group tours.

This exciting, new docent program is flexible – docents are needed on weekends to educate the general public, during the week for prearranged farm educational group tours & even during our early morning “breakfast with the animals” fundraising group events. We'll teach you on everything you need to know & provide prepared materials for consistency throughout our educational programs. If you're interested in becoming a docent, for more information or to set up orientation & training sessions, please complete the volunteer/docent application package & email it to farmteam@mayburyfarm.org.

Intern

We have internships available in the garden, animal care & education programs. Helping out at the farm is a great opportunity for you to learn & gain real work experience related to your career interests or current field of study.  It’s also a great opportunity for teens (16 years or older) – who love to work with kids, animals or agriculture – to gain valuable work experience.  If you're interested in teaching, veterinary or horticulture fields of study, participating in the Maybury Farm Internship program is a great place to start!

Interested? Please download and submit an internship application and email to farmteam@mayburyfarm.org. Don't forget to include your interests and resume.

Become a part of the Maybury Farm team – all you'll need is the willingness to learn & the determination to work hard – you'll make a real contribution to your community in a fun & rewarding way!
